RARE 17TH CENTURY OAK REFECTORY TABLE

Very difficult to find now, this is a very early 17th century refectory table base with a later planked top. It has a beautifully carved frieze to one side, the other side being plain, this was common im the 16th and 17th centuries as the table was so that less important guests had to look up to the main diners who generally sat at the non-carved side.
This table is a real interesting piece of history, some of the Oak in this table could be as old as the Battle of Hastings  c.1066.
